Bob-Tanker-Inspection-IMG_1435TankerInspection-B6_1329-Bullets-whitebkgrdThe Zistos Tanker Inspection System (IAD-TIPZ40-B6) that lets you visually assess conditions inside the tanker. The system allows you to identify hidden hazards and inspect for problems such as: structural issues, residual heel, vermin, foreign objects and more – so NO confined space entry is required!

Rail tankers and tanker trucks – are confined spaces that pose significant risks. Confined space entries result in over 11,000 accidents and nearly 100 deaths each year. In addition to the human toll, the cost to companies can be staggering.

This uniquely-configured video pole camera inspection system is inserted into a hatch, as shown above. It allows the pole camera to stay situated on the man-way, without the need for the operator to support its weight in position.

The system utilizes a self-illuminating, high-powered 40X zoom camera positioned at a right angle on the end of a pole. The camera can rotate 360° in a horizontal plane and pivots forward, back, left and right for a full range of motion. Images are viewed on a 5.6” LCD display that can record live video or still images to an SD card, or transmitted via WiFi to a network or smartphone for later review.

Rail/Truck Tanker Inspection System

The Zistos Truck/Rail Tanker Inspection System (IAD-TIPZ40-B6) with built in DVR is designed for food, beverage and chemical processing companies to inspect and document the inside of rail, truck tankers or any processing tank prior to filling and without the need to enter into a confined space!

Our systems are used to look for foreign objects, corrosion, basic hygienic conditions, mold, vermin, and other contaminants.  When these camera systems are inserted into these spaces, you can look at impellers, liners, little voids that might have residue build up from previous operations that can cause contamination. The system can facilitate a proper visual inspection to ensure that the tank interior is in a hygienic state prior to filling with product.

The system can also be used to inspect tanks for mandated inspection procedures that happen on an annual or bi-annual basis and look for pitting, cracks, corrosion and other structural issues.

The kit includes one self-illuminating, low light 40:1 optical zoom color camera, a telescoping 6 foot T-Pole pole designed to straddle the tanker car hatch and allows a 360° view of all areas inside of a tanker car to be visually assessed for problems. The kit also includes our standard 5.6” LCD WalkAbout DVR display that can record live video or still images to an SD card for later review.

The benefit of our system is it facilitates these inspections which are safe and easy to accomplish, thus improving quality and at the same time improving safety.  Documenting the inspection will help prove cleanliness should anything go awry further in the supply chain.

Please watch our video so that we can show you how to increase safety, reduce operating costs and liability by conducting a thorough visual inspection of the inside of the tank without the need to make a confined space entry.

View Extended Version Here

The Zistos Portable Network Surveillance Camera provides encrypted, wireless IP-based video surveillance. It is a self-contained, battery-operated, wireless network camera in a single, rugged, weatherproof, carry case with wheels and handle for easy transportation. It includes a rechargeable battery, telescoping pole (up to 78″ high), and infrared camera that can be remotely controlled to pan, tilt and zoom (18x Optical). No external power or wires are needed for its operation and images can be viewable on a PC or laptop.  The system allows for up to 6 PNSCs in a circuit.

It can be rapidly deployed anywhere and the system can be set up in less than five minutes. The PNSC is suitable for a wide range of applications including surveillance, border security, disaster management, and industrial site safety/security.  The system also features a motion activation alarm that when movement occurs within an area of interest (say a front door) this alarm will go off on your laptop, alerting you to the motion.

There are three different base options for the PNSC and they include, WiFi, MESH and Cellular.  The WiFi based PNSC uses a basic WiFi connection and connects to a PC/Laptop display.

The MESH based system uses a dual band radio. It still uses a WiFi connection to outside devices but it also uses a secondary mesh based transmitter to communicate with the other camera systems in the network. This makes the network more robust and can correct for network camera transmission problems dynamically as they occur.

The cellular PNSC is the most intriguing of all.  This system can be accessed from anywhere there is a cellular signal.  For example, you could be in New York with the laptop and your PNSC set up could be in California and you could still control and see the video as if you were right next to it.

The PNSC can be a valuable tool for many first responder, security and tactical missions. The PNSC can increase situational awareness in a dynamic fashion. It can allow an operator to remotely view scenes in the field where no other security or infrastructure assets exist.

The entire assembly is ruggedly built and the full camera assembly is submersible.

The NEW Zistos T-Pole Tanker System

Zistos Corporation has just introduced a NEW and improved system that is designed to inspect the interior of bulk transportation vessels – such as rail tankers and tanker trailers – without the need to make a confined space entry.  An operator can insert this system into a tanker and look for contaminants, cracks, corrosion, vermin, or just to assess interior conditions to ensure conditions are acceptable for the next load.  Our newest version of this system has been optimized to be:

  • Easier to deploy
  • Simple to use
  • More cost effective

The IAD-TIPZ-H6 system functions with a special pole mounted video camera that has been designed to mount on top of an open manway on a tanker. Internal images of the tanker can be safely viewed when the camera assembly is inserted into the tanker manway and the inspector remains outside of the tankers confined space.  The camera has very bright illuminators that are built in and features 10X optical zoom magnification. The position and angle of the camera can be manipulated by moving the pole so that any area of the tanker interior can be viewed. The video image is viewed on a 5.6” LCD WalkAbout display with a built in video recorder. The WalkAbout DVR display is worn around the operator’s neck and is viewed on the operator’s chest. It is simple to deploy a neck strap that allows easy access and removal. The DVR can record video clips or JPEGs to a removable SD memory card.

A Bluetooth interface in our DVR WalkAbout display permits the use of a wireless laser barcode scanner with this system.  We can scan a barcode for a lot number or ID on a tanker and that information becomes part of your permanent video record. This allows an operator to identify the ID or lot number of a tank or product when viewing previously recorded images that have been stored on a computer.

Our WiFi interface can allow stored images to be instantly transferred to a smart phone, cloud based storage or local area network.

There are numerous benefits to using the IAD-TIPZ-H6 for your bulk transportation vessel inspection needs.  The system will not only keep workers safe by eliminating the need to enter a confined space, but it also offers these benefits:

  • It minimizes the time needed to complete a visual inspection of a tanker
  • It allows you to maintain a visual record of conditions on a specific date/time
  • Images can be shared in near real-time with others not at the location
  • It limits liability because you can prove interior tank conditions were acceptable at your location
  • It is simple to operate – minimal training required
  • The system is highly cost effective

In many instances, the increased efficiency alone will pay for the system in a short amount of time. Lease to own and fixed finance terms are now available through Merrimac Capital, making the system even easier to acquire than previously.  Please contact us today to arrange a no obligation product demonstration.

The Zistos WiFi WalkAbout Display

At Zistos Corporation, we are continuously advancing the capabilities of our products to offer increased functionality and value for our systems.  Our most recent upgrade was to our 5.6” LCD DVR “WalkAbout” Display.  Our new enhancements include a built in GPS Receiver, a WiFi Interface to transfer images and a Bluetooth Interface to control and accept data from other sensors and smart devices.

With the addition of a GPS receiver, you will be able to get coordinate data of wherever you are standing.  The latitude and longitude coordinates will appear right on the screen, which – when united with the current DVR capabilities of the WalkAbout – allows you to record/archive every inspection and/or mission, not only with images, dates and times but exact geographical locations.

Another recent enhancement to our WalkAbout Display was the inclusion of a WiFi Interface which works simultaneously with the already existing DVR platform.  Having this WiFi Interface allows an operator to snap a picture or record a video clip and share it directly with others, who may not be present at your location. This process is achievable through a smartphone application that simply receives the still images and video transmissions from our WalkAbout to a smart phone via the WiFi link.  Once the images/videos are on your phone, they can be shared to a cloud based storage media, or through email, text or any other form of communication.  The system can also be linked to through an existing network to a common computer or other resource.

The final enhancement in this series of upgrades is the wireless Bluetooth Interface.  This interface allows us to slave other devices to our system such as a laser ranger finder.  The laser range finder can be attached to one of our camera heads and can be slaved to the display control buttons. Whenever you press a control button the range finder can generate a distance to any object that is visible on the video screen. The distance reading appears directly on the video screen, layered on top of the video image.

Our new display unit that includes these new features add a lot of value and capability to our system. The new display is fully compatible with EVERY Zistos system that has ever been created. This compatibility allows you to add these new benefits to any existing system.

If you would like more information on any of our new enhancements or would like a product demonstration, please contact us and we would be happy to accommodate you.

Does your operation involve rail or truck tankers?

Zistos Corporation has been designing remote video inspection systems to safely and efficiently inspect the interior of vats, hoppers and tanks for industry since 2001. We are proud to announce the introduction of our NEW Tanker Inspection Camera System, (Part #: IAD-TIPZ-A6). This system is specifically designed to allow for a safe and thorough inspection of the interior of a rail or truck tanker. Just as important, the system allows the user to record and document the conditions. You can now prove that a proper cleaning was completed and the interior area was clean and devoid of any foreign objects or cross contaminants!

Inspecting a tank car has traditionally presented challenges. It is difficult to thoroughly inspect the interior of a car from outside; and as a confined space, a tank car can be inherently hazardous for inspectors to enter. A Video Inspection System from Zistos meets these challenges by offering safe, visual inspection of all areas of the interior of a tank car without a confined space entry.

The Zistos system consists of a specially designed self-illuminating zoom camera mounted to a pole. The pole telescopes down into the tank area and can be manipulated in any direction to allow for a thorough visual inspection of the tanker interior. Images are viewed and can be recorded on a battery-powered LCD display. Video recordings and still images can be recorded onto an internal memory card or transmitted via WiFi to a Smartphone, tablet or computer on a network. The system is ruggedly designed and easy to operate.

Structural issues, corrosion, mold, foreign objects, residue from wash operations, cross contaminants from previous loads and evidence of vermin can be revealed with our system. It allows an inspector to view all areas of the inside of a tank car without being exposed to the many risks associated with a confined space entry. Plus, the DVR option allows digital records to be kept that document the time, date, and results of inspections. These records can be easily stored and archived offering evidence that the tanker was as it should be following a cleaning process!

All Zistos systems are weatherproof, battery-powered, portable, durable, lightweight, compact, and made in the USA.

Camera Enhancement: 10x Zoom Camera

Zistos Corp. has long been a manufacturer of portable video systems that are used to inspect or surveil areas that are inaccessible or dangerous to enter. We are always working on our products to increase their capability and value.

Our newest enhancement involves one of our more popular products used in remote video inspection applications – our 10x Zoom Camera module. Our Zoom Camera head is one of the more unique products that we offer. It is a sealed, submersible, self-illuminating camera head. It attaches to any of our flex end or articulating poles that range in length from two feet to forty feet. Our Zoom Camera offers a true 10x optical zoom capability and it can be attached to any of our poles for remote inspection tasks. The optical zoom function is accomplished with an internal lens train that magnifies objects within the field of view like any zoom function would. This is to be differentiated from a digital zoom function that many cameras offer, these increase the size of the image by doubling the pixel size – thus degrading the image quality. Our camera gives you a larger image and preserves the detail.

We are typically looking into areas that are dark and we rely on the illuminators on the camera head to properly illuminate an area. Our newly enhanced Zoom Camera head has been optimized to produce 4 times the light intensity than our previous design. This improvement allows the operator to see more detail at further distances in a dark environment AND it is fully compatible with our line of rugged battery powered LCD displays and video recorders. This is a great inspection tool to insert into tanks, vaults, hoppers, or any dark confined space that is dangerous to enter or inaccessible. It allows the operator to see small details, in a dangerous and dark environment, without the need to enter the space.

We would welcome the opportunity to show you how our new enhanced zoom camera can be used to increase the safety and effectiveness of your inspection operation. Please go to our website for more information, or contact us with any questions, or to request a no obligation on site demo of our telescoping pole camera system with our new Zoom Camera that has 4 times the illumination of our previous models.

NEW! Pole Support Bracket Accessory

Zistos Corporation has long designed remote inspection pole camera systems for law enforcement, military, rescue and industrial applications. All of our systems are designed to: – as we say – “put your eyes where they may not be safe to go.” The system is very simple – it features a self-illuminating zoom or thermal camera, mounted on a pole that allows the operator to articulate, or pan the camera and the video can be viewed on a body worn or tripod mounted display.

Our industrial applications increase the safety and effectiveness of repair maintenance operations because they allow an initial visual assessment of environment, equipment and conditions in an underground vault without the need to enter a confined space.

Some of our industrial customers in the power utility and water markets asked us to improve on the design by coming up with a more ergonomically friendly system.

We were tasked with designing a mechanism that would allow the pole camera to be inserted into a vault and NOT require the operator to hold the pole for an extended period in one position, thus avoiding operator fatigue.

We came up with a system that addresses all of these requirements.  The system can be adapted to our existing pole by attaching a “ball” that clam shells around the pole.

The ball and socket design allows the pole to pivot – similar to a joystick – about the opening in two dimensions. The pole can also be rotated 360 degrees in the socket and the camera head can be articulated independently about 180 degrees of pan.  The end result yields a system that allows the operator to inspect any location in the vault without the need to hold and bear the weight of the pole over a long period.  The socket and bar can be positioned flat on the ground or clamped onto a standard OSHA fall protection barrier.

This new enhancement makes it even easier for the end user to perform a visual assessment, or troubleshoot equipment inside of an underground vault without the need to enter the confined space.
